It was great to get out on the course today ( 10th October 2007) with Dad. We played very early at Kirkby golf course and had to wait for the sun to catch us up. The problem now is dark mornings and dark nights, this means less golfing time for everyone.

After the sun shone its first rays on a misty morning, I tied off and did ok, nothing special but ok. Thankfully Dad saw the ball as I had no idea where it went. Excuse time, the first and second holes where badly lit and could explain my terrible scores on those holes or it could just be that I was very rusty. After the second I switched to a 'new' club Dad gave me, it was a large head driver. What a difference. Reasonable straight and quite long. ( check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NiEkKtJQjS4 a video of me with the new driver). This gave me a massive confidence boost and is refelcted in my scores. Even though I am happy with most of my scores not choosing the right club cost me well over ten shots.

Another distraction was the skeins olf geese flying over honking very loudly. We will however forgive them as they are only here for the winter. I averaged out at about 5 per hole which was ok, but I was really proud that on the 16th I managed to drive the ball 222 yards.

All in all a good day at the golf course. I have now managed to get to grips with my grip, I have a rough idea of what stance I need to use for various clubs and shots and lastly I am getting to understand some of the finer points of golf. I will be playing again quite soon and I know that I will have a much better card than the one below.
