About...

Mike Price

Mike Price is 36 years old and has finally succumbed to the golfing bug. This blog hopes to show how anyone can take up golf and enjoy the benefits it will bring to your life. He will be helped by his father Mike Price who has been playing for over 35 years. His aim was not to embarrass himself when he played his first round of golf. Mike has now played his first game of golf and has a new goal of improving his putting and getting below 90 on the score card.

New Clubs, New hope?

Posted by Mike Price on December 31, 2007 6:39 AM

Christmas has come and gone and now I have some new golf clubs to play with. Santa brought me just what I wanted. I have succummed to the golfing bug and now happilly accept it. I am getting into the garden to practice driving into the practice net, or chipping into the chipping net and I have trimmed the grass around the hole and have even been putting.
I managed to get a 9 hole in whilst away and the clubs where good. I only used four clubs, Sand, Pitch, seven iron and putter. The reason being it must have been the shortest 9 hole in Britain. One hole was 55 yards and still classed as a par 3. Thankfully I managed to par 4 holes and only went as high as 5 on one hole.
I feel I am geting to grips with which club to use and also the power to use with the club. My grip is improving and also my stance. I also feel more confident in my ability to play, which is good.
Oh, well next report in the new year when I can say I haven't played golf all this year.

Best wishes to you and yours and a Happy New Year.

Mike

Ho Ho no snow but new clubs

I love Christmas time as you can hope that you get what you want ( usually). Thankfully I did, I now have new golf clubs and as a bonus I will get to use them on a nine hole tomorrow ( Thursday 27th december 2007).
I also got the usual presents of slippers, socks, etc. I hope you all got what you wanted and that you get a chance to try them out on the golf course soon.

Have a good new year, I know I will

Christmas time, my round??

Posted by Mike Price on December 20, 2007 12:59 PM

Hi to all 3 of you that read this blog regularly and I hope you all have a happy Christmas and good golfing new year.
I have a feeling that Santa has got me a new golf kit, bag and clubs. So I am hoping that I will get a chance to have a round in Ribby Hall over the Christmas period. I will tell all about the clubs (hopefully) after Christmas.

Hope you all get what you want and watch reindeer if you manage to get a round in.

Ian Woosnam MBE

Posted by Mike Price on December 14, 2007 10:19 AM

Congratulations to Ian Woosnam on getting an MBE on Thursday 13th December 2007. Well deserved in these days when older players are overlooked whilst the young players get everything. Woosie has been a honest player throughout his career and maybe an MBE is not enough for this Knight of the golfing world.

Is an MBE enough, should he be a knight of the realm??

Your views.

Dark mornings and nights.

Posted by Mike Price on December 12, 2007 7:17 AM

How are you supposed to get a round of golf in this time of the year when you also have to work during the only daylight hours?

I am thinking of working nights just to get a game of golf. It has been over a month since I last played and I feel I am going 'cold turkey'.

I NEED TO GET A GAME OF GOLF IN SOON !

Rant over, feel better.

How do you manage the dark cold winter months??? Let me know.

cheers

Present ideas to make life easier.

Posted by Mike Price on December 6, 2007 8:06 AM

I spotted a great gift idea for anyone with a playstation 2. If you have seen the Wii adverts one of the things they have is a mini golf stick which apparently allows you to play a computer simulated golf course in the warmth of the living room.

I have found one for the playstation 2 now so I have slapped it on my christmas list. Hopefully if I have been a good boy then I might wake up to one on christmas morning.

Here's hoping

Closed for the winter

Posted by Mike Price on December 4, 2007 7:12 AM

This column is now closed for the winter. Well it may as well be. I have had no time or chance to play golf over the last week. If it isn't Christmas shopping, it is raining. On the rare occassions that it is nice I cannot get to a golf course because I am working. Why is it nicer when you are working in an office than when you are off on a break??
Anyway I will be hoping to get some time on a golf course soon, but till then relax enjoy the festive season and hope you get the new clubs you have been wishing for off santa.
